Abstract
Industrial growth and development in every nation is regarded as a key for a meaningful and sustainable economic breakthrough. Therefore, since technical teacher education emphasizes self-reliance, it will go a long way in tackling problems of youth dependency and securing economic empowerment that will in turn enable them to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of a country. This paper focuses the need for industrial productivity through technical teacher education programme .The paper gave highlight on some areas of importance which include; objectives of vocational and technical teacher education and how vocational and technical teacher education affects industrial productivity. Some important factors were identified which will promote industrial productivity and encourage national growth. In conclusions technical teacher education has a vital role in enhancing productivity by empowering citizens with productive skills for participation in small scale business for job creation and the recommendations made in line with the purpose of this study to promote the industrial productivity; include that the content of vocational and technical education should be related to the requirement of the labor market.
