Abstract
This paper whch is a library research discusses accounting education skills and competencies required by business education students for self-reliance in Nigeria. At the introduction, the paper highlights the importance of skills acquisition to Business Education students. It goes further to state a brief historical development of skills acquisition and that of business education in Nigeria. Lastly, the paper discusses accounting education skills and competencies required by business education students for self-reliance and conclude by exploring the consequences of failure to keep accounting records in business units as well as enumerate the need for proper accounting record keeping for the well-being of business organisations.
