Successive Governments?? 1/2 effort in reducing unemployment was appreciated even though much is left to be desired. Such interventions include the NDE, NEEDs, SURE-P among others. The paper also discussed Technical Skills Acquisition Programmes (TSAP) and its implications on job creation. The paper submits that unemployment is a national catastrophe that can be tackled with sustained efforts geared towards providing young people with requisite knowledge, skills and conducive environment to develop. These could be achieved through the Technical Skills Acquisition Programmes which is capable of providing means of livelihood, help in poverty reduction and mass employment of youth and promotes entrepreneurship. The paper presented the Adamawa state experience of operating a TSAP and why it failed.
