Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine teachers’ perception of instructional strategies considered effective for teaching electrical installation and maintenance works (EIM) trade in technical colleges in Adamawa State, Nigeria. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A descriptive survey was used as the design of the study. The population of the study was 42 comprising of 17 school administrators and 25 trade teachers in three technical colleges in Adamawa State. The entire population was used as sample for the study. Kudder Richardson (KR-21) method was used to compute the reliability which yielded a coefficient of 0.70. The researchers with the help of three research assistants administered the questionnaire and collected data for the study which were analysed using arithmetic mean and grand mean to answer the two research questions and z-test of difference between two means to test the two null hypotheses. Findings of the study revealed among others that; demonstration, practice and drill, and assignment instructional strategies are highly effective in teaching both theoretical and practical aspects of electrical installation and maintenance works in technical colleges in Adamawa State.
