Abstract
The study was a follow-up of graduates of Farming Skills Acquisition Programme of Adamawa State Government. Three objectives guided the study which was translated into three research questions. Opinion survey research design was used to conduct the follow- up study. The population of the study was 1, 867 subjects which comprised of 50 trainers and 1,367 trainees. A systematic random sampling technique, using Taro Yamane formula was used to obtain a sample of 125 respondents, which comprised of 30 trainers and 95 graduates of FSAP. The study collected data using a researcher designed structured questionnaire; the instrument was subjected to face and content validity by four experts from Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola. A reliability coefficient of 0.86 was obtained using the Croncbah Alpha formular after a trial test of the instrument on 20 trainers and trainees of National Directorate of Employment in Adamawa State. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions. The result revealed that training given to graduates of FSAP was adequate, graduates of FSAP engage and establish in agricultural businesses and FSAP has reduced unemployment among graduates of the programme. The study recommended that funds should be made available in the form of soft loans for the graduates of the programme, and government should embark on enlightenment campaign to the people of the state to create awareness, stimulate and encourage more participation and benefit from the programme.
