Abstract
The study assessed partnership activities and resources sharing facilities among academic libraries in the federal universities in Nigeria. The study had two objectives, two research questions and two null hypotheses. Descriptive survey design was employed for the study. Fourty federal universities academic libraries with 3551 library staff constitute the population for the study. Eighteen universities with 480 library staff were randomly selected and used for has sample for the study. Thirty (30) items structured questionnaire which was validated by experts was used for data collection. The instrument which was pilot tested in some selected academic libraries of Kaduna state University and Bauchi state Universities gave reliability coefficient of .79. Face to face delivery method was employed in the administration and collection of the instruments. Data collected were analyzed using mean score for answering research questions and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMC) for testing the null hypotheses at significance level of 0.05. The result revealed among others that there was significant relationship between partnership resource sharing activities and partnership activities among academic libraries in federal universities in Nigeria. Based on the findings, it concluded that resource sharing activities among the academic libraries in federal universities in Nigeria is a useful initiative which enables sharing of knowledge and resource among academic libraries in federal universities in Nigeria. as a result, it was recommended among others that in order for resource sharing and cooperation, there must be a need for universities to shared commitment, the willingness to contribute, technologically skilled staff, a need to understand legal implication and continuous policy/guideline for library cooperation and collection development.
