Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to determine the level of adequacy of relevant instructional facilities for teaching bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting trade in government technical colleges in Bauchi state. Three research questions in line with the purpose of the study were formulated to guide the study. Two null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The sample of the study comprised 30 teachers 252 NTC III students of bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting trade in eight Technical colleges in Bauchi state, Nigeria. The design adopted for the study was descriptive survey research design. A 69 items structured questionnaires was validated by three experts and reliability coefficient of 0.76 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha reliability formula. Checklist was also adopted from NBTE minimum standard and used to determine the level of adequacy of relevant tools and facilities. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics mainly frequency count and percentage method, mean and standard deviation were also used. Null hypotheses were tested using z-test. The findings of the study revealed that: the observed relevant tools for teaching of bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting trade were 70% to 80% adequate; the relevant machines for the teaching of bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting trade were grossly inadequate. Based on these findings, the following recommendations were made: government should made the instructional facilities available and adequate in all the technical colleges in Bauchi state. National Board for Technical Education NBTE, Ministry of Education of Bauchi State should serve as a springboard for improvement of the provision and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment. Donors Agencies such as TETFUND, UNDP, UNESCO and UNICEF should be encouraged to contribute in supplying and equipping BCC work shop with instructional facilities in Bauchi state Technical colleges
