Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to determine the level of utilization of relevant instructional facilities for teaching bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting trade in Government Technical Colleges in Bauchi State. Two research questions in line with the purpose of the study were raised to guide the study. Two null hypotheses were also formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The sample of the study comprised 30 teachers 252 NTC III students of bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting trade in eight Technical colleges in Bauchi state, Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. A 69 items structured questionnaires was validated by three experts and reliability coefficient of 0.76 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha reliability formula. Research questions were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The null hypotheses were tested using z-test. The findings of the study revealed that: the relevant tools for teaching bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting trade are utilized; there is no utilization of relevant machines for the teaching of bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting trade; the is no significance difference between the mean responses of technical teachers and NTCIII students of bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting trade regarding the utilization of relevant instructional facilities. Based on these findings, the following recommendation were made: government should encourage the teachers to utilize the available machines in technical colleges in Bauchi state. The state science and Technical School Board should be organizing in-house workshop on the use of instructional tools and equipment in bricklaying, blocklaying and concreting workshop by Teachers in technical colleges in Bauchi state technical colleges.
