Abstract
The study was a survey of skills possessed on the utilization of facilities in training skills among male and female trainers in Office Technology and Management (OTM) in Federal Polytechnics in North-East Nigeria. The study examined infrastructural, Reprographic, consumable, Information Communication and Office Technology facilities for training students in the Federal Polytechnics. Five Research Questions and five Null Hypotheses were postulated and tailored related literature review on Infrastructural, Reprographic, Consumable, Office Information Communication and Office Technology facilities. Descriptive study was adopted as its designed. The population of the study was 45 trainers. A 56-item questionnaire were developed on a Four-Point rating scale and was administered to the respondents. The instrument was validated by experts in Business Education in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi and Federal Polytechnic Bauchi. The questionnaire was administered by the researchers with the support of Research Assistants in the Polytechnics. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics (Mean and Standard Deviation). The Null Hypotheses were tested using t-test. Results found out that, trainers in Federal Polytechnics possessed the skills for utilization of infrastructural facilities for training students in OTM. Based on the findings, it was concluded that, trainers possessed the skills for utilization of Office Technology facilities. Recommendations based on the findings were also made among others that, Managements of Federal Polytechnics should develop their trainers on saving documents on the internet and incorporating graphics into their reports to improve in the utilization of Office Information Communication facilities.
