Abstract
The study investigated gender difference in senior secondary school’s students’ attitude and performance, in Adamawa state. Two specific purposes followed by research questions and hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The study adopted a survey design. A total of 360 students were randomly selected from the six selected secondary schools and used for the study. An instrument entitled “Questionnaire on Attitude of Students toward Science was used for data collection. The instrument was duly validated and its reliability coefficient was obtained using Cronbach alpha method. The achievement results of the students were collected from the various schools that participated. The data collected were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, t – test and Mann Whitney U test. The result shows that there is significant difference between the attitude of male and female students towards science at secondary school’s level and there is no significant difference between male and female students academic performance in sciences. Based on the findings, it is recommended among others that stakeholders in education (i.e. Government, Parents and Teachers) should provide Male and female students with equal opportunities and equal treatment to education and science subjects in particular.
