Abstract
This study examined the adequacy of office technology equipment as correlate of job performance of academic staff in Federal Universities in North East, Nigeria. Two research questions and one null hypothesis guided the study. Correlational research design was adopted for the study. The population and sample for the study comprised 410 academic staff and students of scienceeducation in federal universities in North-East, Nigeria. A 16-item structured questionnaire and a checklist with 16 items were used as instruments for data collection. These instruments were validated by experts in the Department of Physical Sciences, Education Modibbo Adama University, Yola. Cronbach Alpha coefficients0.78 and 0.82 were obtained respectively in checking reliability consistency. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the research questions with SPSS version 21. The null hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance using inferential statistics of regression. The findings revealed that the level of adequacy of office technology equipment is inadequate with a grand mean of 1.88. The adequacy of office equipment has high influence on job performance of academic staff and problems of not adequate equipment hinder the job of the staff. It was recommended among other things, that government and stakeholders in education should make adequate budgetary allocation for the provision of adequate office technology equipment in tertiary institutions.
