Abstract
<p>Basically, quality control measures in vocational and technical education can be provided through frequent supervision in Vocational and Technical Colleges by their Administrators. This paper examined the supervision and inspection that 3 hand in hand wherever a school system works and where there is good supervision, teachers and students, especially, are likely to be at their best. Factors militating against quality teaching were examined, the three major skills needed in supervision process: technical skills, human relation skills and managerial skills were also discussed. Administrators of Vocational and Technical Colleges need the skills for effective supervision. Supervision is seen as a continuous process that guides the school-head, staff and students towards achieving the quality of education of the nation. A programme of educational supervision, however, sound in principles ultimately depends on the supervisor who is "the man behind the gun". The development of relevant skills in vocational trades is required for effective supervision. The supervisor therefore needs to acquire the skills he is lacking to be effective and efficient in supervision. In recommendation, Administrators should motivate and inspire their staff to give their possible best in the pursuance of the objectives of vocational and technical education</p><p>The Ministry of Education and Universal Basic Education Commission should adequately fund inspection and supervision activities for the administrators to ensure quality teaching and learning in Vocational and Technical Colleges.</p><p><br></p>
