Abstract

This study identified the objectives and content areas of Basic Robotics Module for integration into technical colleges curriculum in North East, Nigeria. Two research questions were answered by the study on the purpose of the study. The study adopted Research and Development (R and D) design. The study was conducted in the six states of North-Eastern Nigeria. The population was 58 respondents drawn using total population sampling (TPS). A structured questionnaire on development and validation of Basic Robotics Module titled Questionnaire on Basic Robotics Modules (QOGROM) developed by the researcher was used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by four experts on the objectives of the study. Cronbach Alpha formular was used to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire which yielded the reliability coefficient value of 0.82. The major findings among others include: identification of 8 objectives of integrating robotics education for Nigerian technical colleges and 28 content areas of the robotics module at technical colleges in North-Eastern Nigeria. It is finally recommended among other points that The curriculum of Nigerian technical colleges should be reviewed so as to integrate robotics education in order to meet the requirements of global job opportunities and labour market demand through robotics and automation.
