The Nigerian construction industry is faced with numerous challenges especially collapse of buildings. The challenges are at alarming rate ranging from loss of lives and properties, as a result of building collapse and non-compliances of physical planning and building control laws. Therefore, there is need for auditing the physical planning and building control laws in the states of Nigeria, to distinguish if such law is being adhered to or compromised and what are the physical planning units and development control units doing in terms of implementation and execution. What are thedevelopment control toolsused by the physical planning and building control agencies. The study recommends regular auditing of physical planning and building control laws to reduce the menace of building collapse, health and safety in the Nigeria construction industry.
