Abstract

This study investigated the factors militating against adoption and integration of ICT facilities in teaching and learning of computer studies in public senior secondary schools in Borno state. Three research questions guided the study. The study adopted survey research design. The participants in the study consist of 143 Computers studies teachers in southern Borno State. Census (complete enumeration) sample was used to carry out the research. The instrument for data collection was questionnaire. Cronbach Alfa reliability coefficient was computed for the instrument which yielded an overall reliability index of 0.730. Data collected was analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed that Individual factors (ICT competence, Teacher workload, teaching experience, teacher’s attitudes and gender), Institutional factors (Factors that are within the jurisdiction and control of the institution such as Leadership support, technical support, and Teachers’ professional development)and External factors(Factors that originate from outside the institutions such as Poor infrastructure, Inadequate technology, Inadequate funding, Management attitude, Poor internet connectivity, Poor power supply were the Factors Militating against Adoption and Integration of ICT Facilities in Teaching Computer Studies in Public Senior Secondary Schools in Borno State. Based on the findings, it was recommended that Government should provide adequate ICT teaching facilities for effective utilization. This should be aimed at increasing the adoption and integration of ICT in secondary schools in southern Borno State.
